One of the greatest luxuries in the world is falling asleep when we wish to fall asleep, and waking when it is our time to wake. How sad that the world we have created so commonly denies us this simple right.

Oh, excellent. I'm about 3-5am to noon-1. It's always been that way, for as long as I can remember. And it's difficult for me to go to sleep much earlier than that. Before I had a job that allowed me real freedom with my schedule I was getting maybe 4-6 hours of sleep a night.

I could not agree more. I'm finally on a work schedule where I go to bed around 3:00am and get up around noon. My insomnia that I've suffered most of my life is greatly decreased. Guess I was on a different sleep schedule than what the world says I should be.

Ditto. It always used to be this huge fight for me to get to sleep and to wake up, for YEARS. Now I go to sleep when I'm ready, usually 3-5am, and get up around noon. I don't even really need an alarm.

Last night, on the other hand, I just started dozing off at 11pm or so and went to bed. Woke up at 7am perfectly ready for the day.

Why can't it always be this simple? Why must we make such an effort to engineer our lives so that we can sleep how we naturally need to?

There's a campaign promise I can get behind. You should run for governor. Although knowing some people, their lives might completely collapse without the rigorous structure a bedtime and an alarm clock creates.

Maybe I should make that the center of my platform.
