Last night -- er, last afternoon -- I had kind of a crazy dream. I was back in California, and was going to be officiating for my buddy Robert's wedding. Now, that's fundamentally a little morbid, because he just broke up with his girlfriend, but it's also kind of odd, as [info]mary_austin apparently just had a dream in which I had arrived to officiate her wedding in some classy attire.

Anyway, at first I just thought I'd be doing a reading -- as I will be for my sister's wedding. The ceremony was coming up in like an hour, but I figured, hell, I've done it before, I can wing it. The most important thing, of course, was getting cleaned up. I shaved as best I could, scrambled around for my clothes (which included a big flouncy white shirt), and rushed off to the wedding. Once there, it turned out that apparently I was supposed to officiate after all.

Something else happened, too, I think.

Received a card in the mail a week or two ago telling me that I had a certified letter waiting for me at the post office. Didn't say who it was from.

A few days ago I received a card in the mail telling me that I had a certified letter waiting for me at the post office from my storage unit. Well, okay.

So, this morning I took a break from the world of semantic technologies and staggered down to the post office. It was a letter telling me that they wanted to arrange access to my storage unit by the 28th of March. I went down to the storage unit. There were a bunch of guys hanging around in jeans and tanktops. This was odd, because the guys down there are usually really clean-cut, button-up shirt and slacks kinda guys, and there usually isn't a gang of them hanging around the lobby. One of the guys said, "we're on strike today." I made noncommital noises while I tried to figure out whether or not they were actually on strike. After a minute or two one of the guys who *was* wearing a button-up shirt and slacks noticed me and rushed over. I showed him the letter, and he was excited because apparently they're moving two storage units today, and one of them is mine. Small world.

Now I am going to sleep.

I do more self-storage-related business and applied knowledge technologies before 11:54am than most people do all day. Oo-rah, Semantic Movers Corps!

Spent afternoon running around town, doing various passport-related errands.

Went to [info]totalfantasy's bday shindig! Goodness. Ate some excellent food, met some interesting people, had a good time. Duby gave me an old playboy from Dec. 1976. Score! Jabbed my finger on some rusty grating over a gutter which in and of itself wouldn't be that big a deal, but I haven't had a tetanus shot in well over a decade, so [info]bleuraven was awesome enough to drive me to the ER, where she taught me how to properly shuffle a deck of cards. After hours of waiting, finally got the shot. One of the techs mentioned to me, "Dude, you don't want to fuck around with tetanus. I've only seen one person die from tetanus... Man, you don't want to go out like that." Sat around outside the check-out office for a while while, just around the corner in the real ER, some guy was endlessly moaning. I could tell when they'd move him because the moans would sometimes jump sharply to screams. After a while a couple of paramedics wandered down the hall with an empty, blood-soaked stretcher, while the moaning continued. Went home. On the way home a small chunk came out of my bad molar. Spectacular. I now have a small order of chicken strips which I am going to eat while watching some internet video before going to bed. Good stuff, bad stuff. The ER thing wasn't that big a deal, just the screeching halt to my involvement with the party and Yet Another Bill. On the other hand, friends and people and cards and pr0n, so I'd say I came out on the winning side. Still, the tooth thing kinda sucked.

Yea, though I walk through the valley...

Update: Extra chicken string. Score!

Lesee...

Office across from ours got locked out for non-payment of rent, after spending months trying to organize some kind of "tenants strike" because they didn't like the landlord.
Internet out at office.
Weird computer glitches.
Pregnant fish at brieann's work committed suicide.

Certainly nothing earth-shattering, but odd for a Tuesday. Hmmm....

I don't know that I believe in astrology, per se, but there sure as hell seem to be cycles, influences, trends that move through groups of people without any clear cause. And man, this one's shaping up to be a bitch.

I dunno about Mercury retrograde, but it seems like everything has been heightened lately. There are more possibilities, more excitement, more energy, but there's no order to any of it. All kinds of cool and interesting things seem to be happening, and anything that can go wrong always does. It's not good or bad, it's everything, and seemingly in equal measure.

That can be very tiring.

It can also be kind of invigorating in its own weird way. At the very least, it's interesting. Maybe in a way that's worth remembering in the moment, and maybe in another way it's a trite and empty comfort. I don't know.
